BOTALO

The BOTALO deck shoes are born in 1968 based on a family tradition of working leather dating back to the middle of the 19th century (the great-grand father of the founder, a shoemaker, produce boots for the codfishers “terranuevas” on the dock of Bordeaux). Botalo is specialised in making nautical shoes, deck moccasins, leather and rubber boots, bags and gloves and leather protections for boats.

The first french moccasin, the “Grand Large” is very quickly recognized by boating professionals and amateurs, for it’s qualities: leather sea-treated, specific fitting on interlayer leather, hand sewn, comfort, long life time, light micro-rubber sole etc… This model was born from an order of “Baron Bich” (inventor of the bic lighter and pen), in 1968, to equip the first french challenge to the cup of America, the first foreign boat to dare to challenge the “anglo-saxons”. It was the official shoe of the sailboat France1 in 70 74 and 77 (this boat is now “historical monument”).
